DLA Piper has been awarded the Best International Law Firm of the Year 2013-2014 (India) at the annual LegalEra Awards, held March 15 in Mumbai.
The awards celebrate excellence in the Indian legal market. The winners are selected by a panel of judges, senior in-house counsel and leaders of the Indian bar. The selection is based on feedback from clients, peers and other market intermediaries.
A DLA press release stated: “The International Law Firm of the Year award is testament to DLA Piper’s established reputation in, and significant contribution to, the Indian legal market in the past year. DLA Piper has been among the most active international law firms in India, advising on several cross-border M&A transactions, equity and debt capital markets offerings and high-profile commercial dispute matters. 2013 has been a significant year for the India Group, with DLA Piper ranked as the number one international law firm in India by Mergermarket (M&A report for 2013), as well as winning three Deal of the Year Awards 2013 from the India Business Law Journal.
Over the course of the year DLA Piper has also advised on the first ever high-yield bond offering from India, as well as on the $1.2 billion follow-on offering by Power Grid Corporation — one of the largest government disinvestment transactions last year. DLA Piper’s India dispute resolution practice continues to grow with the firm advising on complex international dispute resolution strategies globally including Singapore, London, Munich, Dubai, Hong Kong and New York.
