Smart_Kinstellar2Kinstellar partner and head of the firm’s Energy practice, Kristóf Ferenczi, was a speaker at the recent Smart Grid Forum 2014 event in Budapest, together with Kinstellar Budapest’s IP/IT specialist, Dávid Klacsmann. This first-ever conference with a focus on the themes of smart grids, smart metering and smart cities and the related smart metering pilot projects, was well attended by numerous players in the Hungarian energy market, as well as by providers of the smart future’s technology and innovation solutions.

Kristóf Ferenczi and Dávid Klacsmann spoke about the key legal and regulatory issues relevant for smart grids and smart metering, including:

  • the need to upgrade and complement the current rather incomplete legal framework;
  • the perfect fit of the development of smart grids and Europe-wide deployment of smart metering with the changing priorities of European energy policy;
  • the data protection and data privacy issues raised by the use of smart meters and smart grids; and
  • the European Commission’s “privacy by design” proposal.
