Dentons

Dentons has announced that leading corporate investigations partner David Loxton has joined the firm in South Africa. David will be based in Johannesburg. David specialises in investigation and prevention of white collar crime, corporate fraud, cybercrime and money laundering. He advises public and private sector clients ranging from blue chip companies to government departments across a variety of sectors and has worked with international law enforcement in the investigation of cybercrime.

Dentons also announced that John J. Sarchio has joined as a partner in the Insurance Regulatory practice. He advises clients on insurance industry mergers, acquisitions and financings, reinsurance transactions, self-insurance and captive programs and insurance regulatory consulting and compliance. Sarchio will be resident in the firm’s Miami and New York offices..

White & Case

White & Case has strengthened its global White Collar practice with the addition of Virginia Chavez Romano as a partner in its New York office. During her tenure at the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Romano managed the Financial Fraud Enforcement Tax Force (FFETF) and the DOJ’s initiatives relating to civil and criminal financial fraud, including the September 2015 policy guidance on individual accountability in matters of corporate wrongdoing. Romano restructured the FFETF’s operations, establishing a committee to identify emerging fraud threats and to fund significant financial fraud matters across the Department.

DLA Piper

DLA Piper announced that Alison Fagan has joined as a partner in its Construction, Engineering & Infrastructure Disputes team in Manchester, part of the Litigation & Regulatory practice. Alison specializes in contentious construction work within the PFI/PPP sector. As a result, she has worked for the public sector including central government, secondary market funders, and project funders.

Goodwin

Goodwin announced that veteran life sciences lawyer Richard Hoffman has joined the firm’s Boston office as a partner in the Life Sciences practice. Hoffman’s extensive life sciences industry experience includes establishing new companies, negotiating and closing venture capital financings, in-licensing technologies, and developing and implementing corporate and business development strategies.

Th firm announced that Paola Leocani will join their financial markets practice in Milan. Paola is recognised as one of Italy’s leading capital markets lawyers and is ranked in Band 1 by Chambers for Debt Capital Markets in Italy. Her practice focuses on debt and securitised derivatives, liability management transactions and equity capital markets.

Simmons & Simmons also announced that Nicholas Lasagna will join their financial markets practice in Milan. Nicholas advises clients on a broad range of bank finance and capital markets transactions, including leveraged finance, acquisition finance, bond private placements, syndicated loans and debt restructurings finance matters.
