Private Practice Moves

DLA Piper continues the expansion of its Real Estate team with Stephen Malley and Jonathan Northey who will join the firm as the latest lateral partner hires. They both join the firm from RPC. Their arrival at the firm follows the recent hire of Richard Hopkinson-Woolley, Laurence Rogers and Neville Wright from BLP.

CMS Cameron McKenna announced that Olga Vorozhbyt has joined their Kyiv office as a partner. As part of the CMS team she will continue to develop their litigation and compliance practice.

Chadbourne & Parke is strengthening its project finance team in London with the addition of international partner Julien Bocobza, who joins Chadbourne from the Project Development and Finance group of Shearman & Sterling, where he worked as a project finance lawyer, specializing in renewable energy and thermal power.

Clifford Chance Bucharest partner Perry Zizzi has rejoined Dentons. Zizzi will lead Dentons’ Romanian banking and finance team and will also be part of the firm’s real estate team.

Clifford Chance’s new corporate chief has named private equity dealmaker Jonny Myers as private equity co-head alongside Oliver Felsenstein. Myers handles several of the firm’s largest private equity relationships and has played a critical role for the firm amid the loss of several corporate players.

Baker & McKenzie LLP has appointed Claudia Prado as new Latin American head, exiting her role of managing partner at Brazil’s Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados, which has a cooperation agreement with the U.S. firm, to become the first female lawyer to head the regional council.

Greenberg Traurig LLP has hired Emilio Alvarez-Farré from White & Case LLP to boost its Latin American practice in Miami in anticipation of increased demand for M&A and financing work across the region.

In-House Moves

The Investment Company Institute has announced SEC attorney David Blass as the new general counsel, effective in September. Blass has been with the SEC since 2011, where he advises on legal and policy-related matters on rules concerning securities markets and broker-deals.

Citizens Financial Group has named Stephen Gannon as new general counsel and chief legal officer, effective in August. Gannon formerly served as GC, first with the retail brokerage group of Wachovia Securities and then with Capital One Financial Corporation. Gannon has also served as a branch chief and staff attorney with the US Securities Exchange Commission.

The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC and Snake River Sugar Company has named Scott Blickenstaff as new GC. Previously, Blickenstaff served as an associate GC for Boise Inc., and was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

Och-Ziff Capital Management has appointed David Becker as its new chief legal and chief compliance officer. Previously, Becker was a partner with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and served as general counsel for the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
