moscowBaker Botts has picked up two arbitration partners from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan’s Moscow office.

Ivan Marisin and Vasily Kuznetsov are both leaving Quinn Emanuel’s 10-strong Moscow office to join the U.S. rival, leaving the former firm’s Russian practice with just one full-time partner. Marisin was formerly head of Quinn Emanuel’s Russian office and is expected to play a key role in managing Baker Botts’ disputes practice in Russia. Kuznetsov will co-chair the firm’s international disputes practice. Both lawyers have served earlier stints with both Clifford Chance and Dechert, with Marisin having previously worked as head of Clifford Chance’s Moscow disputes practice before leading Dechert’s dispute team in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

“Both Ivan and Vasily are outstanding lawyers and highly regarded litigators with a wealth of experience, representing both Russian and international clients. They have a deep seated understanding of the Russian legal system,” said Andrew M. Baker, Managing Partner of Baker Botts, in a firm press release.

“They will both add significant value for our Russian and international clients and their arrival also speaks to the commitment that we have made to continue to grow our international network,” Baker added.
