New partner Antonio Alcolea Cantos

Dentons Spain celebrated its one-year anniversary with new office space and a new partner Antonio Alcolea Cantos.

Cantos will lead the firm’s Public and Regulatory Law department in Madrid. Before joining Dentons, Antonio was Counsel at Spanish law firm Pérez-Llorca, where he worked in the areas of Public Law and Litigation. He is a leading expert in all areas of public law, according to the firm and he has been a State Attorney (“Abogado del Estado”) since 2003. He held the position of State Attorney while heading various legal departments in several ministries.

In his former firm, he advised and defended many companies in their conflicts with the administration and other public sector entities before the courts and arbitration institutions. He has developed his experience in sectors such as construction, infrastructure and PPP and in practices such as arbitration, litigation and public law, in particular with regard to public contracts and concessions, Dentons said in a release.

José María Buxeda, Managing Partner of Dentons Madrid, commented: “Antonio’s arrival is a big boost to the growth of the firm in the Spanish market. Public and Regulatory Law is a key area for us, and Antonio has the right level of experience we were seeking in someone to lead this group here in Spain.” Of his arrival, Antonio said, “I am thrilled to be a part of Dentons in Spain. It is a very interesting challenge in my career, and I look forward to working with the partners here and elsewhere and to bringing my experience to a variety of projects.”

Dentosn Spain was formed by 2013 the merger of international law firm Salans LLP, Canadian law firm Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC) and international law firm SNR Denton.
