Legalis is pleased to announce that Ray Tillett has joined us as Senior Principal Consultant operating in Italy and Russia/CIS. Ray will also be involved in partner, general counsel, and senior lawyer placements, in addition to facilitating law firm and practice group mergers.
A former international law firm partner and general counsel, Ray has over 30 years of experience in advising clients on bank and other debt financings, M&A transactions, joint ventures, and equity and debt securities offerings.
In private practice, Ray was a partner with the international law firm Mayer Brown, the managing partner of Altheimer & Gray’s Prague and Bratislava offices, and an international counsel with Debevoise & Plimpton’s Moscow office. His clients included international investment banks such as Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney; commercial banks such as Bank of America, The Northern Trust Company, Fuji Bank, Mitsubishi Bank, and Toronto Dominion Bank; and civic institutions and universities including The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, McCormick Place Convention Center, and the University of Notre Dame.
In 2000, Ray became the general counsel of the ITI Group (the owner of leading Polish television and media companies TVN, Onet and Multikino). In that capacity, he directed and coordinated the legal work for the successful IPO of TVN on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the issuance of over € 2 billion of Rule 144A/Reg S high yield bonds, and high-profile M&A transactions with European media counter-parties such as Vivendi and Axel Springer.
