Since Mexico opened its energy sector in 2013 and allowed foreign investment for the first time in 80 years, the entire industry has experienced a dramatic transformation. For oil and gas, the bidding rounds have continued apace since the first round back in July 2015 and just a few days ago Mexico announced its tenth tender. Overall, these tenders have been remarkably transparent and professional, and after a few initial logistics hiccups, the government was able to work the kinks out of the new system.
